Use 100% display scaling and disable overscan in your monitor OSD for the most accurate center read.
What to look for
Look closely at the center. Is the dot perfectly square? If it looks rectangular or is missing, you may have a stuck or dead sub-pixel.
Designing a gaming crosshair? See gaming tools (generator coming soon)A 1×1 red dot on a black field makes failed sub-pixels obvious. Increase dot size slightly if your panel uses sub-pixel rendering.
The centered circle and square reveal cropping or non-uniform scaling. If one edge has a wider gap, adjust overscan or aspect ratio in the display OSD.
Span fullscreen on each display and confirm the cross intersects the same physical center — misaligned bezels or Windows scaling show up immediately.
Toggle pure white and black in contrast mode to inspect bloom, IPS glow, or a bright patch at the panel center.
Choose a test mode: precision dot, geometry, alignment cross, or contrast/bloom.
Press Start and enter fullscreen — the reticle must sit on the true hardware center with browser chrome hidden.
Read the on-screen checklist: look for dead sub-pixels, overscan crop, shifted center, or central backlight glow.

If the browser address bar or taskbar is visible, the crosshair is centered in the viewport, not on the physical monitor. Fullscreen maps the reticle to true hardware center.
Uniformity focuses on grey-field tint and backlight bleed across the panel. This test puts a precision reticle first for alignment, geometry, and sub-pixel checks on solid fields.
Red on black is best for dead-pixel hunts. White or green on black also work. Use contrast mode with a cross on pure white and black to judge central glow.
