WheelEvent delta reports how far each notch should move content. Windows and macOS multiply that by scroll speed; browsers may smooth or coalesce ticks. This test surfaces ticks per second, average step size, and a 48-tick bar graph so you can spot a failing encoder before it becomes daily friction.
Browsers report delta in pixels (0), lines (1), or pages (2). Most mice use pixel mode in Chrome and Edge; line mode appears in some Firefox paths. This test normalizes to pixels for comparison.
Free-spinning wheels may emit rapid small deltas — watch ticks per second and the bar graph to see burst behavior.
If direction never flips when you roll the other way, or ticks stop entirely, the encoder or firmware filter is likely at fault — not a browser setting.

Thirty seconds of up/down scrolling on the pad is enough to flag most wheel faults.

Scroll both directions on the pad. Direction should flip with each way you roll and the tick counter should climb steadily. If direction never changes or ticks stay at zero, the encoder or driver may be failing.

A scroll click test checks whether pressing the wheel (middle click) registers separately from scroll wheel events. Scrolling sends WheelEvent deltas; a firm wheel press should fire a middle-button click on our mouse test center. If the wheel scrolls when you meant to middle-click — or middle-clicks when you only scroll — the switch stack may be worn.
Scroll click usually means pressing the wheel down for middle click (open links in new tabs, pan in CAD, etc.) — not spinning the wheel. Press firmly on the wheel without rotating; the middle button should register on our mouse test page. Some gaming mice also support tilt-wheel horizontal scroll — that may appear as horizontal delta here, but vertical scroll testing is this page's focus.
